*blows dust off blog … chokes and sputters*

Hi!

So I’ve been ignoring this blog, I think it’s because I wasn’t sure just what kind of direction I wanted it to go in. I had wanted to to write about important things, to have some sort of theme. But having spent so long avoiding writing things because I was worried about it not fitting into a theme I’ve decided that since this is the story of a geek in a strange land I will write about me. Hows that for self centered?

I’m an American, living in England and while it’s not so much of a strange land as it used to be, I can write about things that I find interesting. I can write about the interesting event’s and stuff like that along with my daily life. But don’t worry, I wont be blogging about what I had for dinner (pizza if you’re wondering) or anything like that.

I have some of my Grandmothers diaries and love reading them, they are like snapshots into her every day life. It’s something I’ve always been interested in, reading about peoples every day life. I think Ann Frank was a starting point for me, it sparked my desire to just write. She didn’t know her diary was going to be a part of history she was just writing about life, her life, as unusual as it was. I hold no illusions that my scribblings will become a part of history like Ann’s did. I have to admit I would love to be able to donate all of my scribbling to a museum one day. Not because it would be good for my ego or anything like that, but I have always thought that the history of an average person can be as interesting if not more so than the history of a nation or the world. It’s easier to identify with a person living through something than it is to read about facts. Or at least that’s how it works for me.

So here I am, my theme will just be life. Life as I know it.
