Tuesday night Mal and I went to see Ed Byrne at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton. As always we had fantastic seats, front row, or what I like to call The Firing Line. Mal’s been on the receiving end more often than not when it comes to comedians.
There have been a few times where it’s been me on the receiving end, but every time it’s been my fault. The comedian will ask if there are any Americans in the audience, I wish I knew what comes over me at times like this, I can’t help but shout yes. I’ve escaped the few times that Mal has tried to get me notice. That was until Tuesday night!
Ed’s support act was a guy called Karl Spain. I liked his act and really enjoyed his jokes. Then came the question, you know The Question. But I was front row, I wasn’t going to call attention to my self, not this time. Mal however thought differently and started pointing at me. Thankfully Karl wasn’t looking my way, but others in the audience had noticed. I was doomed! DOOOOOMED I tell ya!
Okay maybe not doomed. That may have been a bit of a drama queen moment. Anyway, so there I was in the firing line, Karl noticed everyone pointing at me I just waved and smiled. He asked where I was from, how long I had lived here. You know all the normal stuff. I can’t even remember what he said to make everyone laugh, what ever it was it made me laugh too.
Don’t worry I got my own back. Mal had asked if I’d bring a change of clothes so he didn’t have to be in his work clothes all night. With out thinking I picked out his white and red t-shirt that says Flash on the front of it (as in Flash Gordon). As Ed was talking about nerds, and Star Trek he noticed Mal, pointed at him and said ‘You know what I mean’.
Result!
hehehehe YOU ROCK TIFF!!!
Thanks!
